WHAT’S ON YOUR MIND??

Carol Clegg-Lamptey

The mind is a very amazing thing.
What we think about affects us in so many ways. Is that not why the Word of God tells us that we should not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of our minds?? (Romans 12:2)

Indeed our minds are battlefields where many battles are fought and won. Also the reverse unfortunately 🤦🏽‍♀️.
Our thoughts influence our actions.
It’s not every thought we must claim or dwell on. There are many we must reject outright especially when they don’t agree with the Word of God.

2 Corinthians 10:5 NIVWe demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.

We can only do this through the power of the Holy Spirit who lives in us. 🙏🏾🙏🏾

What are you filling your mind with?
What and who are you listening to?
What are you watching and reading?
What and who are you associating with?

As believers and disciples of our Lord Jesus, Heaven should be on our mind especially now!
The things of this world will never satisfy. I recall preparing for an exam; my end point was passing and I was so convinced that when that happened I would be truly happy.
Guess what happened? I did pass, yes, but that happiness didn’t last more than a few days. I began feeling purposeless .🤦🏽‍♀️😬 I needed a new end-point. 😅

As human beings we need purpose; else life becomes a drag, a toil, a meaningless venture. Been there, done that. No more!
God has given each and every one of us a purpose.
Some are general and chief among them is to have a relationship with God after accepting His free gift of love – Christ’s death on the Cross, tell others this Good News, live for God daily, then live forever with Him in Heaven, once we stay in the faith to the very end of our earthly lives. We must run the race! Please read 2 Timothy 4:7-8.

We are ambassadors for Christ! His representatives here on earth.

To illustrate the futility of chasing after the things of the world, let me draw your minds to the story of the rich man and Lazarus as Jesus told it.
Have you ever realized how they were named? The rich man who was probably well known in his days on earth, was just referred to as the rich man. Lazarus, a beggar was named. There’s more to life than riches that many are pursuing at the cost of not only their lives, but the lives of others. The love of money is the root of all kind of evil! (1 Timothy 6:10)

Mark 8:36 KJV For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?

Heaven should be our focus. Remember the story of the 10 virgins. Our oil must be kept burning. Our Father must find us going about His business when He returns. Indeed, He shall come as a thief in the night. Are you ready??

I ask again – What’s on your mind??

God bless you!
